We are honored to support this transformative program for people in early recovery. The Sustainable Recovery Program will help participants bridge the gap from treatment to living fully a self-directed life in recovery. The program is funded through donations and will be provided free to the participants. It is offered in coordination with an institutional review board-approved study with California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (IRB-22-86).

In addition to providing participants with evidence-based methods to develop skills to support their recovery, increase resiliency, and mental and emotional health, we will collect data to study the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions for the participants. This will help provide insights to substance use treatment professionals so they can continue to improve the quality of care offered.

Participants in the program will not only receive a high-quality program to support their long-term recovery, they will also help others by providing important data to identify the effectiveness of the recovery supports they receive.

How it works:

  • Our next program will begin the week of July 16th and run for 8 weeks.
  • Approved participants will be randomly assigned to one of the groups with one of our licensed counselors. Live online sessions with be on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings depending on the random assignment.
  • Participants meet once a week in a live online group session with their counselor and have online daily activities and lessons.
  • There is a private online platform for group members to complete their lessons, share their insights, and support each other throughout the week.
  • All of the programs will support an individualized approach to recovery that supports the participants chosen pathway of recovery.

Participant Requirements: In order to be eligible participants must:

  • Have completed treatment for substance use disorder (including alcohol) within the last 12 months.
  • Commit to participating in the study, completing surveys at designated intervals until 6 months after completing the program.
  • Be willing to fully participate in the evidence-based program they are randomly selected for. Some groups include mindfulness and meditation.
  • Be open and willing to try meditation and mindfulness if selected for one of those groups.

In addition, we recommend that clients:

  • Be stable in their recovery
  • Understand the difference between abstinence and recovery and have a history of being in recovery
  • Have at least two months clean and sober and are not experiencing any physical withdrawal symptoms,
  • Recognize that they have a problem with drugs and/or alcohol
